Missing Drive

All of a sudden, my "a" floppy drive doesn't show up when I run windows explorer. I checked hardware devices, and the floppy is shown. I would have enabled but it already is enabled. I ran troubleshooter, but couldn't find anything. Reading previous posts, I was going to run CHKDSK, but where do you run it? Ironically, I was trying to create a boot disk....ha ha ha...anybody got any ideas...thanks

 

To run CHKDSK, start>run or start>all programs>accessories>command prompt. Can't tell you at this point why A: isn't showing up in explorer, but does A: work? Here's a link to MS Knowledge Base article on how to make a boot disk for XP.
