Hello charlesvar, tonyT, and so many others,
Upon opening my "restored" Dell 4600 (reformat/reinstallation of OS on June 24th) I started looking at WinXP folders. I turned to C:\Docs and Settings\Owner\ and examined the contents.

As instructed at another site the path for both MS IE and Firefox bookmarks is supposed to be: "On Windows XP/2000, the path for bookmarks is C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.....

But there is no Application Data folder present at all. I have never seen any Windows version (XP and earlier) without this valuable AD folder for Profiles, Bookmarks, etc. I would wonder about the quality of the reinstallation of my OS, except that I looked at my wife's Dell 2400, which has the same OS as my machine. Lo and behold, her PC has no Application Data either

I need help with this apparent loss of an expected and previously heavily used Application Data folder on my earlier installation.

Thanks for all your continuing help,
    Scott

PS (PDT=11:46 AM): Have just returned from further examination of Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4 and the bookmarks are in the path:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Default\Profile\bookmarks.html :D
However, still would like to know what happened to the Application Data folder in Windows XP HE?

Application Data is a hidden folder ....

To view Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden files and folders.

  3. to hide this advert.

Win Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab->there are three options to "hide" files. Need to disable them.

Solving the Applications Data folder "loss "

    Thank you, Pete and Steve,
As my experience has shown, you and the other Staff can solve almost every user's problem. Application Data is now quite visible as are the Mozilla Firefox bookmarks. Incidently these are the "true" bookmarks as they change constantly as changes are made when the browser is open. The Program File\....bookmarks remain static.
    Thanks again,
    Scott
