some of you might remember my previous threads, but i added a modem and removed my sound card. my case is still open since i'm waiting to put the side back on.

i've noticed my temps went from 54C to 64C when idle! does anyone thing these things are related?

Put the side panel back in place. It may have some effect on the air exchange in the area around where the sensor is located. Those readings seem rather high but they may be more relative than truly accurate. You would be the best judge of how hot it ran in the past when all was apparently normal.

I may be spoiled though by the P4 I run since I never see it over 34° C. as read with the AIDA32 program. I don't know how accurate that is either but I can actually hold my finger on the CPU and not feel extreme heat. I consider anything above 50° C. fairly warm to the touch.

    :)

Without going back to review your posts, it appears you added a third HDD too. Regardless, I don't think your temperature issue has anything to do with the hardware changes you have made re: soundcard and modem. Are you still trying to push your FSB and where is it set now? If you are running up in the 64C range at idle, you'll be in the market for a new system sooner than you think. 54C was way too high, but you are now getting quite close to toast - enjoy your last few days.

    ;)
