Minimizing a program leaves it running in the background

When I minimize a program it used to leave a small icon or identifer in the toolbar on the bottom of the screen. Now they disappear but really are still running in the background and I can't see them to recover them. An example is my Autocad 14 program, often I'll minimize it to go to another program and when I come back to it I have to reopen a new version and my file or drawing I was working on becomes a read only file.

    Help:

I remember once I reloaded windows 98 using a command. Is it possible that this would restore the function to minimize and not hide the program? Problem is, I don't remember the command.

    Help

    Thanks

Yes a reboot or restart fixes it. It's most disconcerting as I often have to minimize AutoCad or other programs and to get back in I have to reboot.

I cannot recall the command to reload windows from the run routine. I think maybe this mightcorrect the problem....
