Minimized programs

    Hello,

    This isn't for me, it's for a friend who's having a problem with his Windows 98 box.

    When he minimizes a program, the 'title bar' goes to his desktop (only the title bar), and he maximizes from there. It doesn't go to his task/start bar where it's supposed to go. The start/taskbar do appear, however the programs do not appear there, and resort to the desktop (Windows 3.1 style).

    Anyone know what causes this problem and how to fix it?

    Can you check the System.ini file to see what's on the Shell= line? It should read Shell=Explorer.exe.

    To check the System.ini file, click on Start - Run and type in SYSEDIT.
