    Hi,

all of a sudden i've noticed i have 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' on my system under Printers/faxes.

Does anyone have any idea of how it got there from a program or a website?
    Yesterday it was not there.

    thanks.

You most likely installed .Net Framework 3.0. This includes the XPS viewer.

While you did not intentionally install .Net Framework 3, you got it as a result of a Windows Update. Windows Update has an update for .Net 1, 2 and 3 all rolled up into 1 package. So if you have .Net 1 and/or .Net 2 installed, you got .Net 3 shoved onto you.
I myself have no use for .Net 3 or the XPS printer. You can uninstall the printer from the Control Panel\Printers, and then uninstall .Net 3 from Add/Remove Programs.
There is a tool available for removal of the XPS printer.
