Please wait a little longer than 40 minutes for a reply;)

In the mean time, you could list out all the different things you've tried so far:eek:

A sure fire method is to seek out the hidden files called Normal.dot and delete it. It's the default Word template that will get recreated next time you open Word.

** Note that you will loose any all custom changes you might have done to the template.

Hi acidburn942: Those little L thingy's are "text boundary" markers. You can turn them off by going to Tools>Options>View and in the "Print and Web Layout options" section check or, in your case, uncheck the box next to "Text boundaries ". OK you way out.

Note: I have Word 2000 so if you have a different version the location of the text boundaries check box may be slightly different.

Post back if this works. If not let us know and we will look a little further.:)

    hi john,

Ive tried that already. It's already unchecked but the stupid L things are still there. textboundaries when selected creates another dotted line box around the text. anything else?

Hi again, yes I get the dotted outline of the text boundaries with the L things in the corners with the Text boundaries setting checked. Unchecked on my Word 2000 both disappear.

I went through just about every setting I could find and could not replicate what you are seeing. Strange  seems to be something embedded in the normal.dot template. Should have been cleared if you deleted the normal.dot but obviously did not. Did you close down Word and reboot after deleting normal.dot?

I will be away for a week so won't be able to do much more on this. Hopefully someone else will jump in with some suggestions.

What version of Word are you using?

Edit: Here's another forum the specializes in MS Office applications you might want to post there to see if they can help: http://www.theofficeexperts.com/forum/

Post back here if you have any success or not.
