Microsoft Virus

    I received this message supposedly from MS:

    Outlook and Outlook Express as well as five newly
    discovered vulnerabilities. Install now to protect your computer
    from these vulnerabilities, the most serious of which could allow
    an attacker to run executable on your system. This update includes
    the functionality of all previously released patches.

    The message goes on to instruct me to open the attachment that came with the e-mail...I scanned it 1st and it turned out to have a virus. Maybe this has been circulating for a while but I thought I would share it with the board members

    Thanks for the reminder. This comes up periodically.

    Microsoft NEVER sends e-mail notifications of patches.

    Is the "size" of that email about 216kb in total?

    Once a friend's system got infected, forgot with what, and started sending out emails to addresses found in the address book. Noticed that the infected emails were far larger than normal. Most emails that I get are mostly around 4 to 6 kb, if that, certainly under 10kb. Ever since, I've paid attention to email size.

    So maybe the virus e-mails always have an attachment?...This is my 1st encounter with a e-mail sent virus.
