I have my updates set for "download and notify" which has worked fine until now. Three times today I have noticed the little yellow shield in my notification area and each time it has disappeared as soon as my mouse cursor passed over the icon. Once it lasted long enough for me to see 1% downloading.

    Anyone else having this problem?

I have gone to the update site in IE7 and the site stops working about half way through inspecting my computer.

I had some issues too yesterday with updates...Updates come out on the second Tuesday of the month (dec 12th) and I'm guessing they were a bit over loaded....Even MSN.com had some issues yesterday...

Thanks Steve. I had a look at the updates and most have to do with IE6 which I don't have anymore. Maybe thats why the update shield had a look and went away.

I'll try the update site again today and see if it is different.

    I got it fixed.

I had svchost disallowed in my firewall. Turned it on and update chimed in with 7 updates.
