Microsoft has u-turned over changes it made to a pop-up encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 10.

Users were angry that clicking the cross to dismiss the box meant that they had agreed to the upgrade.

Based on "customer feedback ", Microsoft said that it had added another notification that provided customers with "an additional opportunity for cancelling the upgrade ".

The pop-up design had been described as a "nasty trick ".

Arie, I have no problem reading and understanding the sentence [Click here to change upgrade schedule or cancel schedule upgrade]. Why would anyone who has read that, click the X at the top of the popup message??? Neil.

Most of the people don't read through the message. They just tend to close the box by whatever means possible - the shortest being clicking "X" at the top.

MS is now behaving more & more like other software developers who bundle PUPs with their programs.:(

We advocate in our advice to members to thoroughly read ALL instructions before clicking NEXT/INSTALL and in some cases to use CUSTOM install to avoid PUPs. I've almost got my older brother trained to do this. I said almost because I usually get a panic phone call from him on a weekly basis. TeamViewer has become a very useful tool. ;) Neil.

Yep, but not all the world's computer users are members, Neil.

And not all computer users read operators instructions thoroughly otherwise we wouldn't be answering questions and improving our daily knowledge. :D Neil.
