My daughter bought a Microsoft Surface 2 to use to read books and watch videos while traveling. 32GB

When she watches her videos the Surface periodically times out as though there is no activity. is there anything she can set or change so that this does not regularly happen. Video are all an hour or less.

    Thank You,

    Jorjab

I wasn't thinking. Video is already downloaded or on a USB flash drive. So not any wifi involved.

    Neil,
Thank you. Sounds like a possibility. Will have to ask her to try and then will post the result. May be a couple of days. She does not live with me.

She has tried out power saving - that works, but is not user friendly. Want the system to have short timeout when running under normal operation. Certainly don't want to have to keep changing system settings. This only happens with the Surface tablet and not with a Windows 7 laptop or PC.
Is the problem with Windows 8 RT? In which case, I would consider that a bug or flaw in the OS
System should not timeout when a video program is running. Any other suggestions on how to get around this?. Is there some other setting in the system
    .

After a more thorough internet search, I found the following as a potential way to keep it going by using the Clock app at the same time.
    http://windowsitpro.com/windows-8/tip-keeping-surface-pro-alive-watch-video

Other then this solution, no one seemed to have any suggestion other then using the timeout setting. All web comments seem to indicate no other solution.

This is the url for the Google search results I found.

That works of course but still a pain as you have to go in and reset when not watching videos and want shorter time outs. Don't to leave everything on for an hour or so at a time.
Thanks away and I do appreciate your time spent helping out.
I am going to close this thread as I think that there is really nothing else that one can do other then what has been suggested.
