    Information can be found here.

    System Requirements

Windows 8 Consumer Preview works great on the same hardware that powers Windows 7:

    • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
    • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
    • Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
    • Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device or higher
    • To use touch, you need a tablet or monitor that supports multitouch
    • To access Windows Store and to download and run apps, you need an active Internet connection and a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768
    • To snap apps, you need a screen resolution of at least 1366 x 768

You can get the ISO images here.

    Available languages:
    • English
    • Chinese (Simplified)
    • French
    • German
    • Japanese

The easiest way to convert an ISO file to a DVD in Windows 7 is to use Windows Disc Image Burner. On a PC running Windows XP or Windows Vista, a third-party program is required to convert an ISO file into installable media-and DVD burning software often includes this capability. One option is the USB/DVD download tool provided by the Microsoft Store.

I have a HP PC originally OS Vista upgraded to Win 7.
Should I install Win 8 on this PC and have a problem will I have go through the routine
of having carry out a full Recovery where the original Recovery disks install Vista, then go through the upgrade to Win7 and then finally install Win 8?

This is a Preview of Windows 8. Sounds like you don't want to try that.

This is a GREAT quote from Scott Hanselman:

That pretty much sums it up :D

Yea, most people won't be installing the preview as a VHD, but still, with any beta/preview software you must be able to deal with a total system 'meltdown' which will have you lose all data on the drive. If you are not prepared to deal with that, keep walking & wait till the software is on the shelf of your (virtual) computer shop.

The Windows 8 Consumer Preview gives me a better impression than the Developer Preview. First, it's 64 bits, much better using my test machine using Centrino, originally for Windows Vista.

The Developer Preview was available in 64-bit too, 64-bit is the only thing I use.

Really? I got the 32-bit, but never mind, it's over. Both Developer Preview and Consumer Preview are now running as virtual machines on Fusion 4.

b.t.w on your first post, you mentioned the system requirements "To use touch, you need a tablet or monitor that supports multitouch ". I found that Windows 8 works fine on Mac (with Fusion) as well. What disappointed me is that IE 10 (Consumer Preview) cannot zoom in and out with two fingers pinch like Safari for Mac.
