I recently set up a new HP Pavilion a1550y and when I installed my MS Office keyboard I found that the Hot Keys no longer work. Suddenly yesterday they began working, and when I booted up this morning they worked. Then, finding that I was having trouble accessing the Internet, I turned everything off for a while, and restarted. The Internet problem disappeared, but so did the Hot Key functions.

Additional info: When I changed browsers/email (using the old computer) to Firefox/Thunderbird, the Web/Home and Mail keys stopped working, but yesterday and earlier this morning, even those keys worked.

Certain special buttons do work, i.e. Back/Forward, and the toggle switch between applications. But Cut/Copy/Paste do not.

I hope it's not going to be a question of choosing between accessing the Internet and using the Hot Keys!

    Seriously, can anyone help?

Did you pop in the cd that came with the board and reinstall the drivers?

    Yes.

What totally confuses me is that it worked fine for those 24 hours, so the drivers must have been properly installed. First not working, then working, now again not working.

I know that if I reinstall this I have to uninstall it first, but this wasn't a reinstall, since it had never been installed on the new computer in the first place.( I had plugged it in, but never installed the drivers. So as a plain keyboard it worked fine.)

I think the problem is fixed.

A popup appeared this morning in the lower right corner which asked if I wanted to allow/deny the keyboard access to the internet. I had seen it before, and had said "deny" because these popups are never as clear as I would like, but this time I took a chance, said "allow ". The Hot Keys are now working fine.

So I hope all is well.
