I've just gotten started using Microsoft Movie Maker, although it seems pretty straight-forward, thankfully.

I've got a video segment that I'm adding a title to, and I've got the look and titles I want, but I want the title animation to end at a particular point, and not run through the entire pre-programmed animation. I figured that would be as easy as just trimming that clip, but in addition to "new user" trouble in fully understanding how to trim (or delete) clips or portions of clips, now I'm not even sure that you can trim an animating title clip. Can you? I figured it could be manipulated just like any other clip as to content, length, etc.

Well, that's question one and if anyone has any guidance on trimming clips that is seemingly any clearer than the Help topic info (although that actually seems pretty clear), bring it on.

    Thanks

Is the info Help provides on editing the title not working?

Or have I mis-understood your intent?

Okay, I'm almost beginning to think that either I'm making some sort of very simplistic fundamental error, or that I'm simply a moron. I followed the guidance from noahdfear, which is fundamentally the exact same guidance that the Help topics provides - but still not luck.

I want to trim (shorten) the title clip, so I grabbed the "handle" on the left (starting point) of the clip, and then dragged the handle to the left until I approximated where I wanted the clip to truncate - then I released the handle. However, when I play that clip, it still runs past the point where I wanted it to stop (and where I thought I had trimmed the clip).

I'll try to insert an image. Any other thoughts on what the heck I'm doing wrong?

I dont know if this is what you need or not. I use AviSplit Classic to trim or cut avi files. It work well. I then use Windows Movie Maker to put things back together. Its worked everytime for me.
