Microsoft Issues Patches for Windows XP (and Windows 8, Windows Server 2003) to curb WanaCrypt

    Yesterday Microsoft took the unusual step to offer a security patch for its 16 year old and since long unsupported OS Windows XP in light of the fast spreading WanaCrypt ransomware infection. It also included patches for Windows 8 (EOL Jan. 2016) and Windows Server 2003 (EOL Jul. 2015).
