I keep getting the message.. "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problems and nees to close. Sorry for the inconvenience. Then a box that's checked that says,,,, Restart Internet Explorer... and at the bottom of the message ,,,, it asks if I want to send a report,,,, or don't send a report,,, and then I lose the site I was in. This started happening 3 days ago, I have checked the 'send report',,, to no avail,,, anyone know what this is from...or how do I fix it???
    Can anyone help me!!!

you received the same error that I am getting- I will stay tuned to this thread. I reinstalled IE 5.5 on Windows 95 yesterday and it made the problem worse. I scanned disk, defraggd, removed wallpaper, removed cookies, removed .tmp files.

If this has only started to happen lately it sounds like you may have only recently downloaded and installed Internet Explorer Error Reporting.
See the following for lots of discussion.
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...t+Explorer"+"error+report"&btnG=Google+Search
The bottom line is that you have done something which is going to cause IE to crash anyway. Error Reporting allows you to tell MS about the reasons for the crash. Supposedly MS uses the information to "improve" IE in the future so it will not crash under these circumstances. Every now and then MS may even tell you what to do to avoid that same crash in the future. However, usually MS just takes the info, you hear no more and like you say, IE closes. You can disable Error Reporting and save the time of reporting, but that won't stop the crash.
If you are saying that crashing of IE is more frequently lately, I think there is a Details button on that window. See here
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q276550&
    and
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q293513&
Click on the link offered. If the cause is always the same, post back with the details (actual message if possible).
And it never hurts to run a antivirus scan and perhaps a scan by Ad-Aware (www.lavasoft.de).

I disagree with this. A user should not be blamed for bugs withing an application. There are plenty of web-browsers that just don't crash like this. And its probably true that MS usually just takes those error reports and puts them on the shelf. All in all, you are probably going to have to spend alot of time learning how to avoid those crashes. I think there is a better way to spend your time. MS should be the one spending time preventing crashes, not you. There are a couple of free web browsers that at least equal IE in functionality. The easiest, most headache free way to avoid such errors would be to get one of them. Here are the links:

I do not think we disagree. Maybe my choice of words was poor.
Whether it is the user or IE, itself, causing the crash, if you get the error message, the die is cast--IE is going to close, and the Error Reporting program has not caused the crash.

BTW, you get the IE Error Reporting program in all the recent downloads of and SP's for IE. However, it can be disabled.
