IE Security Settings: Is it possible to do this?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have Microsoft Baseline Security Analyser 1.2.1 installed on my system (XP Home Edition SP2) and now I can't access it at all!! I navigate to the executable/utility and immediately receive the MS Internet Explorer popup console: Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.

It then shows/displays two popups with stuff about errors on line 49 and line 17 and then directs me to/displays a link to the MS XML page!!

    I have d/l'd the most recent MSXML Parser/SDK 4.0 SP2 (I think correctly/successfully!??) - so, my question is:

Is it possible to ADD the MBSA to my Internet Security TRUSTED zone?? I'm thinking/hoping this might solve the glitch/problem??

Any advice/tips/assistance out there?? Any and all help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Go to Tools > Internet Options and select the Advanced tab. Scroll down to Security, and check Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.

    Thanks, ARIE.

Did as you suggested and enabled/checked "Allow active content to run in files on my computer" via Start/Control Panel/Internet Options/Advanced/Security. Went directly to my MBSA proggie/utility and the same old, same old result!!

Need I have rebooted for the 'change'/reconfig to have taken place/be accepted by the system??

    Thanks for your help.

No, a restart of IE would do the job...

I'll see if I can dig up anything else.

Maybe you need the latest version

I had a similar difficulty and fixed it with a later version - I'm using 1.2.4013.0
