Whenever I reboot, Messenger AND Live Messenger both try to sign in. How do I disable Messenger and still keep Live Messenger?

Thank you for your response, Sniper9228. I was able to institute the microsoft.com suggestion. Unfortunately, with my ignorance regarding computers as a whole, I did not understand the pctools instructions. The microsoft.com solution did not get rid of messenger. It still tried to sign in when I rebooted.

See if any of these might work. Be careful when editing the registry, make sure you read the directions closely.

These may be the best, if you are not sure about the registry.

That's to be expected. The solution posted was to disable the messenger service which is something different than MSN (or Windows) Messenger.

RESOLVED I would like to thank each responder to my query. Problem solved with sniper9228's suggestion of support.microsoft.com site. Funny how the little things bother us, isn't it. So glad I found BBS for "the little things ".
