    My daughter asked me this question and I don't know the answer. Her window in the inbox opens with the middle bar all the way down at the bottom of the window. She drags it up where she wants it, but next time it is back down at the bottom again. She had this happen once before and found how to make it stay put, but can't remember and can't find out how.
    Soooo.....how does she make the separation bar stay put?

    Hi Pat,

    There is a tiny "grippy" on that bar. It is in the middle of the bar and has two down arrows at each end. I have an illustration on this PAGE. Clicking on the grippy will restore the message pane.

    My daughter said that her problem is not restoring the bar, it is KEEPING IT restored. Each time she opens her inbox, the bar is at the bottom of the page again. She wants it to stay put, the way it used to. By the way, she has Netscape 4.7.
    It's just one of those frustrating little things that annoys us.
    Do you know how to make it stay put?

    Hi Pat,

    See if this helps your daughter's Message Pane problem:

    Message Pane Defaults to Bottom of Messenger Page

    Let us know if she continues to have problems. I believe this will eliminate her problem completely, as it has for other users. Is she using Netscape Communicator 4.79?

    It doesn't work (a link solution). I have also (N7) set my e-mail to open in three panes, and it always opens in two panes. Only when I click on "Inbox" it goes into 3 panes.
    Whatever that link propose, works up to some point. I go SHOW>MESSAGE PANE...nothing, I go SHOW>MESSAGE PANE ( I tried several times, works only with second try) it opens 3 panes. Next time I open Mail, I got 2 panes again. Go figure. In that link, it says: "save your settings from that state "...OK...how?

    That fix is for Communicator, not Netscape 7.0
