I often use Messenger E-mail that came with Netscape 4.8; the browser I rarely use. Today I lost all the names in the address book; however, the icons remain and I can address an e-mail but until I actually address the e-mail I can't tell to whom I'm sending e-mail. How do I restore the names to the address book? Thanks.

    Pete,
I have given up on NS4.8 earlier this year, and uninstalled it. So, I am not even sure what icons you are referring to, but I know that NS7 and Mozilla can become corrupted . I am not even sure that the same approach can be used. Your address book for Netscape4.8 should be in this path: C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\user_name, and it named pab2.

Thanks for the info. I found thru a fluke that I had apparently clicked on an arrow at the top of the address list when sending to multiple addresses and it blanked my e-mail addresses but did not delete them. This may help others who encounter a slip of the mouse!!

I clicked at the top of the address list and presto I had them back.

    Pete,
thanks for your input. I, often, had unexplained problems because of a lousy mouse shot. That's why I beg people to, never, drag and drop files.
