message pops up constantly when online

I have just connected to Broadband for the first time after a clean install of W XP.
from first connection today I get popup Mesenger Service- Message fro SECURITY-STOP SCAN CRITICAL SYSTEM ERRORS to fix Download Reg Repair failure to act now may lead to data loss and corruption. I can only get rid of it by clicking the x to close. Each time it appears, it gives a different web address. My antivirus then finds threats or viruses in Win system 32

Anyone know what's happening

It is hard to tell whether the Messenger is a legitimate program (like MSN Messenger) or not. You could turn it off, but, while it may get rid of the messages, that is not going to get rid of the malware.

This actually sounds like Windows Messenger spam.

Try Shoot The Messenger by GRC.
