Client: Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1123 - Using IMAP

    Server: Mercury/32 v4.52 Aug 21 2007 - (MercuryS, MercuryD, MercuryI & SpamHalter)

    A-Virus: AVG 7.5.524

Problem: I received an email today, but before I could read it OE displayed "Message is no longer available on the server ". I control the server (currently the same box) and Mercury/32 (the server) is not configured to delete any emails (SpamHalter is installed but is set to mark suspected spam in headers). Mercury/32 shows the message was received which suggests that the AVG email scanner passed the email without problem.

Unfortunately I hadn't set up MercuryI (IMap server) to keep logs.

This setup's been running for 72 hours (yes folks on a 98SE system) without problems. My question before I look at server and anti-virus is has anyone else seen messages removed from an IMAP folder using this version of OE? Any other pointers would be appreciated.

    Not completely sure I'm following....

Do you really control the server or does your ISP or webmail provider?

Within OE->Account properties is an option to "leave mail on server" which when enabled, allows you to get the same mail on more then one machine.

I control the server, MercuryD collects mail from my ISP (using POP3). The suspect email was collected by my server.

OE is set to use IMAP4 not POP3 so leaving mail on the server is not in the equation.

Sorry Steve, just read my reply and it sounds a little obnoxious, that was not my intention. Everything helps. Thanks

Have you "Googled" -> Message is no longer available on the server and seen all the hits?

    I have now

Sorry folks, in my defence this particular setup is only temporary whilst my main box is being repaired.
