I use the netscape message filter to help filter out unwanted emails.
I want to move the file over from the netscape folder to a more secure location on my harddrive. This way if the system crashes, I won't lose all of my filters that I've created from day one.

Need to know what is the name of the file, and where in netscape does it tell the netscape pgm to point to it.

    Need help

You didn't say what version of Netscape you are using but the file you are looking for is rules.dat.

    This is from http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla1.0/#files
For example, I have a rules.dat file located in my (Netscape Communicator 4.79) C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\myusername\Mail folder and another rules.dat for Mozilla 1.0, carried over from my NS4.79 profile conversion, in my C:\Windows\Mozilla\Profiles\myusername\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\mymailaccount folder

    found rules.dat file but

When I move the rules.dat file to another location, where do I tell netscape to point to this new location.

I was thinking you would want to COPY rules.dat to a backup location and leave the original file where it was.
