I am having problems with my PC. A week ago my son installed software to Burn DVDs (DVD Copy Now - PC Treasures) on my RW DVD Drive. After he did that all hell broke loose and I couldn't even see the DVD/CD drive. I unistalled that software and I got pretty much everything back to normal...EXCEPT...
When I engage either the mouse or any drop down menus (file, Edit Etc.. (curiously With the one exception of the Favorites menu) the menus appear as almost a ghost outline and no words unless I pass the mouse over them and only then will the wording appear. It does not appear that it stops me from using the menu choices but I just can't see the choices until that action is taken. I have tried to re-engage the Context menus in the Registry, but that did not seem to stop it.

I make the point about the DVD software only because the problem I have started only after this DVD software was installed then removed...Any Ideas??

Well, if it's only been a week system restore might be an option. If you installed any programs since the date you use for a restore they may have to be installed again but that's about the only down side to it. If you haven't installed any since then, any extra work on your part would be minimal if any at all. My guess is that it would fix the problem and it might save you a lot of time trying to figure out another way to fix it.

    Too Late for System Restor

    Zander,

Unfortunately, that was my first thought as well, but I have no restore point before Friday (I don't even see the notch mark when the software was installed and unistalled). Any other thoughts of what might be causing or where we may be able to get under the hood?

Well, the only thing that comes to mind right now is maybe it would straighten itself out if you changed themes. A long shot but worth a try.
