At one when you click on View ->Explorer Bar the menu lists Search (Ctrl E), Favorites (Ctrl I), History (Ctrl H), and Folders. At one time Media also used to be listed here. When you clicked on this Media Player showed up at the bottom of the Explorer Bar (like MP minimized in the Task Bar). You could then preview media files without having to launch the full Media Player program, Winamp, whatever. This was great! Somewhere along the line this Media option was lost and the folder tree is now the default.
    1) How do I get Media Player back as an option in the Explorer Bar?? and
    2) How do I turn off the folder option as the default?
ARRRG!!! I've searched EVERYWHERE (including folder options, Media Player options, Tweak UI) and I can't find anything that works!!!

It looks like (from a few searches) that MS offered a "clip organiser" called Clip2002, probably bundled with MS Office (Office 2002?), which previewed media (but didn't play it).

There may have been problems with it, so it looks like it was left out of later versions.

That is just a rough interpretation.

I run Vista and it is supposed to have a video media preview, but it can only preview files that WMP can play, of course.
