media player 7.1 service pack

    i reinstalled the media player 7.1. but, the service pack is no longer availabe for download. consequently, i can't delet the entries in the file. any suggestions?????:confused:

    Phil, I assume you reinstalled over a previous copy of Media Player 7. If you haven't tried it, go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in your CONTROL PANEL. Remove Media Player 7 using this utility which will remove associated registry (most of it) info before actually deleting the software. Now you can go to http://www.Microsoft.Com/Downloads/ and get a free download of MEDIA PLAYER 9, which is great and supported by MS.
    Of course you can always just DELETE the Media Player 7 folder outright but this will leave a bunch of registry entries, and maybe kill some shared dll's (probably not). Anyhow, get rid of 7 and load up with version 9.
