Running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.
Recently WMC started crashing whenever I opened the TV Guide. In all other eepects WMC is functioning perfectly. I have made no changes to the system - no knew hardware and no new software. No outstanding Windows updates.
I tried installing the "Cumulative Update for Windows Media Center in Windows 7 (Windows6.1-KB981078-x86.msu)" but it shows the message "This update is not applicable to your computer ".
    Any ideas out there?

Did you try using Windows' "System Restore" to roll Windows back to a previous state when your computer was functioning correctly?Sometimes, unexpected changes to your computer can cause Windows to behave unpredictably. System Restore helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.

Thanks - I should have said I had done a system restore (which changed nothing).

That is because KB981078 is included in SP1.

I suggest checking for updated video drivers and checking Windows Event Viewer logs to see if there's anything listed that can offer a clue.
