   Looking for this file to repair the index. Could not find it under c:\windows\inf. I am using Win XP pro ,service pack 3. Thanks.

   searching for mdac.inf file

   I saw all the files. There are 2 files : mdac and mdac pnf. No mdac.inf.

   I'm pretty sure that mdac is the .inf file.
   
   De-select Hide extensions for known file types in Folder Options > View
