mb problem!!

    Is this mb bad
    Is this mother board Toast????
    i upgraded mother boards

    I turned on the computer after upgrade
    bios ran self memory test
    bios found all drives

    then the bios said CMOS battery low, then shut off

    I restarted it, then got nothing on screen, monitor was still orange mode,
    NO POST beeps either

    I replaced battery and still nothin!
    I have reset the bios jumper

    faulty mother board????

    The CMOS battery low message is more of an inconvenience than a total "show-stopper ". I'm pretty sure that a bad battery will not cause a machine to "play dead ".

    The fact that you're not getting a clean POST or some beep codes is disturbing. If I suspect that a mainboard is dead, I'll yank out the memory and boot it up just to see if I get some beeps. A functioning motherboard and cpu will give you beep codes unless, of course, you've got a power supply problem.

    You said you've tried to clear the CMOS, right?

    I'd try the following:

    Make sure all jumpers are in the correct place.
    Try reinstalling the motherboard redoing all connections.
    Try booting with an extremely minimal config - cpu,memory,video card.

    As always, if you don't use an anti-static strap, keep touching the case metal to drain off any static electricity.

    thnx,

    i booted with ram and video card only.
    the power supply & processor works with another board.
