I have just upgraded to W2K from W98 but I still use Word 2000.
I get the error "settings you chose for the right and left margins, column spacings or paragraph indents are too large for the page width in some sections" whatever values I now use for left, right margins and gutter size.
In W2K the settings I had been using for several years under W98 for a double-column A4 page in landscape orientation no longer seem to work. The same documents no longer preview or print correctly.
How can I reset the dot file for such documenjnts?
    Any help appreciated
    David :(

Not sure if you had just modified normal.dot on your old system and the default one with a reinstall didn't work or what.

You should be able to do up a document with the features you want, strip the text, and save it as specialized.dot then use that file with the documents.

As far as I know there is no limit to the number of specialized .dot files you have. Normal.dot will control any new document if you just open word and start typing but you can force a new document to open with the specialized version of your choice.

I found it made a big difference when I used FORMAT/COLUMNS and set the spacing etc from there rather than accepting b the defaults. By stipping out the text I now have a new set of dot fles that DO work.
    Newt, Thanks for your help
    David :D
