    Hello to all,

Our client has a Windows 2000 Server with a domain setup, AD installed etc, done via an existing I.T. company. The client PCs are all on XP. They are all on a workgroup not domain, the same workgroup that is.

They all have a mapped drive to files on the server and can access these no
    problem.

However, I tried to do the same with another Windows XP Professional PC, but when I tried to map the drive a username and password logon box keeps appearing. I checked settings from other PCs and they all appear to be the same as this one.

I am confused as to the the logon screen as it shows something like:-

    username:-client50\administrator
    password:password has been entered

client50 is the name of the XP PC. I type in the administrator username and password for the domain and/or local PC but the same logon box appears.

When I change client50 to server/administrator which is the name of the windows 2000 server it still does the same thing. How should the details actually be entered into the username box and what should be actually be entered?

Also, why is this happening when all other PCs are fine.

I couldn't even see files on the server when trying to map the drive like
the other PCs can. Yet the XP machine can get Internet access!!!

    Please help,

    Many thanks,
    Jeff

    Thanks Reggie

I sorted the issue. It was a very simple one. Basically, an existing IT company setup the network and therefore the username and passwords the staff gave me for logging onto the network were incorrect. Once I obtained these I was able to sort it out.
