I checked at Microsoft. They say this is normal behavior but no suggestions on reversing it.

My mapped drives do not auto connect to the shares on the server at startup. I need to know how to reverse this new feature. Any ideas?

Thus far I am seriously not impressed with XP. I will never be able to roll it out to 150 stupid users, (they barely understand the concept of mapped drives let alone having to manually restore the connection each day....)

I have added servers and passwords in the accounts section but that does not seem to work...

    Tek...

actually it is not as bad as you think....

I am not the the senior network guy. My sup (and 20 year unix guy) makes them choices. His boss is a windows guy however. We are going to a domain and ads in the next 6months, we finally convinced him of the bene's. I am not setting it up 8( ... I probably know the most here but they want 2 other staffers to do it (this means they get assigned the job but I do it cuz they half ass things sometimes) they want other because they dont want 1 guy, me, to control it all. (i set up the 2000 fileserver, the Norton AV system the runs on 2000, all 4 RAS servers (2 nt 2 2000), the 2000 webserver, I set it up and outside firm did the Ecom. I get to do the Exchange server all by my lonesome. You can make a whole career out of exchange. They are going to send me to school and the works...
    wooohoooo PAY RAISE TIME!!!!!!!

Well enough rant. I managed to do make it work using the classic interface. I will play around with switching back to new interface and see if the settings stay.

In the classic interface, when you make it asks you for your pass and there is a check box for remember password.

When you have 7 mapped drives, re-entering the passwords everyday can get tedious.
