Trying to clean up my system (about 650 Orphan Dll files)
With regedit, Hey local machine, software/microsoft/windows/
    current version/shared Dlls.
1)right in DATA colom I found many DLL from uninstalled programs
    with 0x00000000(0)
2)dbble click on DLL gives 0 in value data
I suppose that number 0 means this DLL is no more used by any program.
    Delete ????
I have also claensweep from norton, but I am afraid to delete all this Orphan DLL's at once
    Thanks
    Mich

    /shared Dlls.

Shared is the key word. If they are in a known to be gone program folder then I would say they are safe to delete.

If they are any other folder or the Windows\System folder I would leave them.

    If in doubt leave them.

Also if you were using Win98 I would say make sure that you have the lastest RB00X.CAB file in the C:\windows\sysbckup folder and go for it. But by you having ME I am not sure that would fit. But System Restore should.

mich--Rather than deleting, put them into Recycle Bin for a week or so and see if any program needs one or more to be restored. And the most recent version should always be in C:\Windows\System.
