I downloaded the MS Blaster Symantex fix to a 3.5 " floppy for my grandaughter she couldn`t stay on line long enough to get the cleaner.
I ran on to the below instructions and, amatuer that I am I`m curious if it is all proper and correct.
    Thanks

    MSBLASTER Manual remove
If you can't get a fix for the MSBlast Worm, do the following.
Hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE and find "MSBlaster.exe ". Click "End Process ".
If Unable to do this then reboot the machine and repeat the above steps.
After you have ended msblaster.exe go to the Start Bar and click on 'Run'.
Type in REGEDIT and then follow the next steps exactly.
In the left pane you will navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software,Microsoft,Windows,Current Version,Run..
Locate and delete the entry: "Windows auto update=MSBLAST.EXE.
    Close the Editor.
Now, go to search for files and find all the copies of msblast.exe that are on your PC and delete all instances of them. Reboot.

If you downloaded the fix from Symantec, why not just run the floppy like this:

How to run the tool from a floppy disk
Insert the floppy disk, which contains the FixBlast.exe file, in the floppy disk drive.
Click Start, and then click Run.
    Type the following:

    a:\FixBlast.exe

    and then click OK:

Note: There are no spaces in the command, a:\FixBlast.exe.

Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.
If you are using Windows Me, then re-enable System Restore.

I guess I wasn`t clear enough on that query. The Symantec cleaner worked fine and that`s over and done. I ran onto this manual fix on a Web site and, being of an inquiring mind, and not knowing whether or not the fix would work I thought I`d pick the brains of the people on this board and some body with more knowledge than I could read it and say yes, or, no.
I agree the advice you gave me is correct, and thanks to you for the reply.
