    ^bump^
Dustypa stated in an email to me that this was the complete error message.
    Any network involved?
    What type of internet connection?
    Internet connection sharing?

Not to challenge your facts here, but I don't think we have the straight scoop. And, what makes you so confident that an XP upgrade resolves all your problems? Just email and yahoo IRC? Not a shared computer? Just Dial-up?

Maybe you are also running one of those fine applications like Sub Seven or maybe you are just blowing a little smoke.

Regardless, a little more specific information is either going to get you another wise response or an honest answer and some honest to goodness help. Your call .........

    ;)

i have no clue what sub seven is and i only use yahoo instant messenger and email, i know windows xp resolved it because when i installed xp it never happened again, but it made my computer so slow i got rid of the puter im running a pentium 4 here, its not a old puter and im not blowing any smoke its a real problem, maybe because you didnt hear of this problem before doesnt mean their isnt one........its message is just manage shared:load and if you hit OK it goes off then comes back up, i dont know how to be more specific about it.......

    Your comment ....... my question

SubSeven is a trojan, and a nasty one at that.

From the look of things, markp62 might have already nailed it for you, be it virus, spyware or trojan ........ Hopefully, thats what the smiley is all about.

Sorry but your logic doesn't quite follow unless you want to tell me you had the same problem on both machines and even then, your logic would be a stretch.

And why should anyone be a skeptic about your post? - because you wanted an email and anybody that's good could put a little something extra in a return email that would muck up some poor unsuspecting person's machine. Wouldn't be the first time this has happened and something like this would probably be coming from a new poster. Sorry, but you fit the profile.

Please understand, I don't mean to welcome you to the board in this manner and am not trying to be malicious. Your post just seemed suspicious.

Now, I'll apologize and give you the benefit of the doubt. You are probably a very nice individual and I'm sorry if I have offended you. Regretfully, I see too many machines that belong to extremely trusting individuals and your post sticks out like a sore thumb.

I hope your problem has been successfully resolved.

    ;)

The smiley came as a result of a duplicate reply due to lost dial up connection, could not delete so just edited.
I see you ran the Trojan scan and came up negative, but did you also do the AV scan? A second opinion is a good idea, as AV programs can be corrupted.
HijackThis may be of some help here. After installed and running, click on Config, then Misc Tools, then Generate StartupLog. It will open on Notepad, copy and paste here. While you are at it, let it Scan from the opening window.
Something is attached to your internet apps somewhere.
SpyBot Search & Destroy may help, but have yet to see ad/spyware produce that error message.
MDAC and OBDC does come to mind here concerning SQL. Maybe an accidental configuration through OBDC in Control Panel?
MDAC is Microsoft Data Access Componets, a lot of MS apps use this, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, Office. At one time there was a critical update for this.
This page has the MDAC componet checker, and may display any conflicts in this area.

In Spybot, after the scan, if you removed everything with a red mark next to it, you did fine.
Is the error message still happening? It would help as someone else may come across this rare error message.

You've sure got my interest at this point - I've never seen it (but, that doesn't necessarily mean a lot either).
