   When I click on a link on an email from outlook internet explorer opens telling me it is running with add-ons disabled I try to manage add-ons from tools but manage add-ons is greyed out this only just started happening a couple of days ago not sure what to do.

   I suggest you reset IE7 and see if that resolves the problem ....
   
   Tools > Internet Options > Advanced - Reset.
   
   I would encourage you to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 which is now being rolled out via Windows Update or download direct ....
