I have been trying to get rid of several Trojans found with Avast. Have run Spybot. Ad-aware and Hijack this. Tried to delete files with Hijack this but they continue to persist. This is my sister-in-laws computer. Running very slowly. Thanks

    Hi friend eric and welcome.

You do for sure have some critters but at least one of them needs an experts touch to safely remove and it may take a while (day or two) before one of ours has time to research and prepare a clean-up for you.

For instance, here is some info on NewDotNet that will give you an idea of how firmly the thing digs in. I'm not even sure this is the latest removal instructions for it so I can't even recommend you try their suggestions.

I'm tweaking your topic title a little so it can get better attention.

The best first step for removal of New.net is through Add/Remove Programs, then reboot.

Please post a new HJT after this.

I was working on this while visiting but am back home now. I will have to try to this long. I am trying to identify someone locally with enough experience to help my sister-in law out. Therefore there will be delays between postings.

    Thanks for your help.

In addition to NewDotNet, I was not able to get rid of the following Trojans in the following directories:
    C:\Program files\wxtorut - There are 2 exe files here
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\winit

I tried Spybot, Ad-aware, HijackThis, and a-squared. Could not delete these files.

    Disable System Restore.

Open HJT, and click on 'Open misc tools section', then click on "Delete a file on reboot', a File Open window will appear. Copy/Paste the following into it.

    C:\PROGRA~1\wxtworut\boACIohN.exe

Then click on Open, and you will be prompted to reboot, select No at this time. Do the same for these.

    C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe

Do the same for any other files in those folders, then reboot, and they will be deleted. You can enable System Restore after the reboot.

Please post a new HJT log, and I'll be able to help you with new.net.
