Here is the problem I am having...... I recently installed a new MB and chip, as well as RAM...... I also upgraded to WIN XP...... Win XP has this problem where every time anything access more than it's own installed HD, it reboots...... I have done all the upgrades to XP and downloaded all the newest drivers for everything in my machine...... all the testing I can do says everything is setup and running fine....... but every time 2 HDs are accessed, say I am copying between HDs or any programs access 2 different HDs..... XP reboots..... I have turned off the "System reboot on Error" setting in XP and now it doesnt reboot on the error, it goes to a blue screen..... problem is, it gives a different error each time...... here are a couple of examples of the errors...:

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and in the event manager, it has all the events listed, but gives no specific info on what is causing it.... they are all listed as "Event ID:4354 Category: 52 "... and there is a link to go to the Microsoft page to get more details...... clicking the link gives me "MS Has no more info at this Time"

I am running an MSI KT4 Ultra MB with AMD XP2200+ chip, 512 meg DDR RAM.... many HDS...... I have updated the MB bios, any drivers possible...... I have tried running just 1 HD and it runs ok..... but add ANY of the other HDs and as soon as both are accessed, Crash...... Well, thats all the info I can think to add at the moment....... if anyone has a suggestion I'd be most appreciative...... If you need more info, I'll gladly supply it....

    Thanks, Kevin

Random errors are a nightmare and certainly bring memory to the front of the line.

Check all connections and reseat the mem modules.

You may want to check DMA on those drives. If you have the 80-wire, 40-connector wire for the drives, be sure DMA is enabled for them in the BIOS and also in Device Manager. If you are using the regular 40-wire cable, set BIOS and Device Manager to PIO only. Usually, Device Manager will set these automatically.
