I bought a new case for my mainboard. It has a bunch of standoffs pre-mounted in it that are in the wrong place for the size mainboard I have. I don't think they'd interfere with fitting the mainboard in.

Would there be any dangers to the mainboard leaving them in, like grounding or something like that?

Remove all mobo supports you don't need.

    Hi shadowhawk,

If they're unscrewable its easy; if they're not I knock them out with a hammer (but not in the presence of the case owner). Too much danger of short circuit.

If I'd bought the case, I'd return it and pick another, unless they unscrew.

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer ....... Yes there's a problem with leaving them in place - its called a short. Some case mfgs mount a few standoffs for common MoBo's - OK, yours doesn't match. Relocate them as necessary. As to the hammer - lose that concept. As to the return the case comment - with advice like that, Sparrow - don't give up your day job.

He wouldn't have asked the question.

    Rockster2U,

"a problem with leaving them in place - its called a short "
    I said that.

    "Relocate them as necessary "
If he could, he probably would, and wouldn't have asked the question.

    "As to the hammer "
You've never encountered welded in place standoffs??
I have. And the hammer works just fine.

    "get a stupid answer "
I agree, but it's not mine.
