Every since I upgraded to Netscape 7.0, when I click on an email to read it takes forever to open and also forever to delete a message - any clues on how to solve this? I am running on Windows 98, cable connection thru Roadrunner.

    Thanks, Belinda:confused:

    Welcome to the Forum, Belinda!

    Hi Belinda,

    Have you tried basic maintenance:

    Empty Disk/Memory Cache
    Delete history.dat
    Delete history.mab
    Compact Mail folders

Also, WEBaccelerators, firewalls, proxies, and ad-removers could have an impact on this. If you use any of these types of programs, try disabling them one at a time, and see if it helps.

have done some of these things

I did clear my disk cache and the other cache. Not sure what you mean by the history.dat and the history.mab. Where are these located?

Also, WEBaccelerators, firewalls, proxies, and ad-removers - I don't have any of these - I have direct cable (Roadrunner). I tried uninstalling netscape 7 and naming old inbox - old mail and then putting back in by oldmail and renaming Inbox but that did not help either.

Any suggestions - slow as Christmas - very frustrating.

    Hi belinda1,

Since you uninstalled and reinstalled Netscape, and there was no change, then I would suggest creating a new Profile.

The history.dat and history.mab files are located in the following location, depending on your OS:

    Windows 2000/Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt
NOTE: These files are hidden by default.

    Windows NT
    C:\Winnt\Profiles\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

    Windows ME
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

    Windows 95
    C:\Windows\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

    Windows 98
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

I would also contact Roadrunner about the slow mail. It could be a server problem.

    Thanks

Contacted Roadrunner, they said no, said to contact Netscape, which I dd last week and it immediately said some users were experiencing slow mail, etc. but since then it should be fixed. After all that, still slow and that was last week. Created new profiles to no avail. The funny thing is that my boyfriends computer who I networked with mine to use Roadrunner at the same time before all this - his email is fast as lightning. Mine is the one dragging - even though I have reinstlled - created new profiles and everything ican think of. I networked using dlink with two ethernet cards. Mine was the primary computer - his secondary - would this slow my email down? Who knows Computers!

    Thanks for trying to help.
