I have two e-mail accounts set up in Netscape 7.1's mail client. One is a Netscape.com webmail account, the other a POP3 account from my ISP. Mail is set to notify me with a sound (default mail) but this only works on the POP3 account. The Netscape.com webmail account only shows the visual alert in the bottom right corner when new mail arrives and is silent. Any ideas?

    HeyJeff,

I don't have Netscape webmail here, as I am using Mozilla. I did ask another user that I know has Webmail, and he advised that the Mail notification did work for webmail in Netscape 7.0, with the Mail window left open.

Hopefully someone with 7.1 with give you more current information....

Thanks Ramona. I actually reinstalled Netscape 7.1 and deleted my profile (I can reconstruct one pretty quickly) and it stilled won't audibly notify me on the webmail account only. It's not a big concern since I do get the new message flag popping up. :) That webmail account is really the only thing keeping me with 7.1. I know I can check it on the website, but I like using a mail client!

    HeyJeff,

In the event you haven't configured your Mail Notification as suggested below, then:

In Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Notification

    Enable: Custom .wav file
Enter the path to your .wav file of choice exactly like the below:

    file:///C:\yourwavfolder\yourmailalertfile.wav

    Maybe this will help,

Thanks for the tips Ramona. Nothing seemed to help and then suddenly today it started working on it's own accord. Knowing how finicky software can be itll probably stop again someday too! ;)
