I went crazy and bought a new desktop PC with a Windows7 operating system. I made an MSWorks sheet by copying from a web site and then pasted. It now has a paddle lock on it. I do not seem to have a key to open it. There must be a way to unlock it. I have the only Account and it is an Administrater. Win7 is a much different system than Xp, so I am sure that I will be back. If anyone here can help me I will appreciate it.

Take a look at the Permissions on that worksheet - right click on the file > Properties > Security tab and check/change the permissions.

I went to right click on the file, security tab and change the permissions. It shows 2 names.
    Administrator(name-PC)administrator
    Name(name-PC\name
At the next window I get "Unable to display current owner ". Each time I try to change permissions I get "Unable to set new Owner on Win7-001" and "System cannot find file specified ".

Which version of Works are you using? Works 9 and Works Suite 2006 are the only versions compatible with Windows 7.

The article does not work. I saw the paddle lock on WIN7-001 in the Documents folder. Now I have a new copy and paste on WIN7-002 which has everything that was on WIN7-001. On the file type it says "Microsoft Works 4.0 Word Proccesor ". Works 9 came with this computer. Win7-001 is now gone. WIN7-002 is still here. I hope that somehow fixed the problem. Will not hold my breath.
