Is there a problem between the two? I keep getting a message telling me to re-start Netscape every time a web page tries to use the flash player, and when I go to the test site for flash player I get the same message and flash player does not work. The message is "the plugin performed an illegal operation." The shockwave player passes the test and works. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the player several times, but still does not work.

    Thanks,

    Marvin:confused:

    Hi Marv,

No, there is no conflict with Netscape and the Macromedia Flash Player. Look in your Plugins folder and see if you have the following file:
    NPSWF32.dll, Version 6.0.65.0
This should be the current Version of Flash Player.

    Have you tried this:

    From Macromedia Support:

Download the Standalone installer for either Internet Explorer, or for Netscape-compatible browsers
This can help resolve most other download or installation issues. For best results, download the installer to your desktop, and close the browser before running the installer.

NS 7.01 vs Macromedia Flash Player

Ramona, Thanks for the link. I found a flash player uninstaller at macromedia, used it to uninstall flash player, and then when prompted let macromedia re-install the plugin and it is now working(for now).

Am using NS 7.01 at work for browsing and for mail and it is really neat. Still using NS 4.79 and Mozilla 1.21 at home.

    Thanks again,

    Marvin:D

    Hi Marvin,

Glad to hear all is well with your Macromedia Flash Player, and Netscape 7! I've never had a problem with the player, and you probably won't either, now that you have done a clean install.

Once you become accustom to Netscape 7 you will no doubt be using it for your default browser at home.... ;)
