I have a recent XP machine in which MacAfee (complete version) was loaded over Norton AV without removing it first.

The machine shows 100% CPU usage, will not sign no Internet in usual fashion, has certain facets of OS not working (Control Panel, Windows Explorer) and does not want to allow removal of MacAfee program.

I am not as familiar with XP as with W98/W95, so am afraid to meddle with deep stuff. Do not have XP porgram disc. Will a simple reloading of OS work as in W98? How to do deep removal of programs giving trouble? Does diskedit work in XP?

In XP, does that not also wipe files and info?

It will restore your system to the way it was on the date you choose to restore to. In this case you want to choose the most recent restore point (before the McAfee installation).

If it gives you trouble because of the 100% cpu usage, try it in safemode.
