Last night, my domain controller gave an error message of an IP conflict with its IP address. My exchange server lost connection to the domain controller for approx 50 minutes. The Domain Controller Event Viewer error message lists the mac address of the computer causing the conflict. Is there a way to track down this mac address to a sign on? The mac address is not listed in my DHCP and I use DHCP reservations.

These can be troublesome to chase down. The difficulty in finding it depends on how fancy a switch you have. In a perfect world, you connect to the management inferface, look up the port that mac was on, and lookup the office number from the patch panel. You can try reverse ARPing for that MAC and see if you can get the IP to run nbtstat against it to hope its a windows machine and can get the logon.
