    When startin my computer up
somtimes it starts up in only 4 bit colors, and i cannot
correct this in the setting in windows. The only way i
can correct this, is by cutting the power, and start windows up again so that it will do a scandisk and sort out whatever problem causes this. But only untill the next time i start my computer up.
My graphic card is a nvidia g-force 200mx and i have the latest drivers. I suspect maybe a trojan horse or a virus might cause this, but maybe somebody out there might have better ideas.

After spending days dealing with problems similar to, as well as more severe than yours, on a brand new system (one-week-old Dell 8200, 1.8, 256, GeForce 2/400, etc.) here's what I learned: Video problems with XP and GeForce cards are due to Nividia's drivers inablity to play nicely with XP.

Dell even sent out a tech with a replacement card at no charge for the tech (75-mile trip for him) or the card, only to see the problems continue.

I fixed them all finally (changing screen resolution resulted in endless reboot loop or stop screen with the infamous "nv4disp.dll error" or lockup/reset, etc.) by downloading various Nvidia drivers and trying them one at a time. I ended up with the 27.42 version.

You can find pretty much every Nvidia driver ever written at http://www.guru3d.com/files/

If you decide to try different drivers, be sure to get and use Detonator Destroyer, which is available at the same site.

    Good luck!
