Lotus notes marked a note for delete, but cant delete it

Our company has a must save ALL data policy, which includes e-mail. We run Lotus Notes 6.5 for most of our e-mail clients.

A problem I just came up with, is once you click a message, and click Delete you get an error box "You are not authorized to perform that operation ". Once you click OK at that, it still placed the black "X" on the left side of the message. But when you go into the Trash can folder, nothing apears.

Now everytime you click the refresh button it asks you to delete x documents in the trash folder.

how do I get into the trash database and clear them out? any ideas?

 

the only thing I found was go to tools, prefrences and user prefrences. UNder the "For trash that is not emptied at a timed..." select Manually. that will keep the error from coming up as much.
