The file c:\windows\system\videocntl.exe is set to run in win.ini but has "disappeared" from my hard drive! Ran undeletes but no sign of it.
I have recently cleaned up my system of some applications no longer required and suspect that it was deleted.
No idea what this file is about is giving a couple of problems.
    1) Loading windows gives an error that the file is not present (by win.ini). Appreciate could delete line from win.ini.
    2) Some web sites will not load - causing Internet Explorer 6 to crash - one is Ebay - a favourite.
Not on Win 98 system CD - google couldn't find.
Any ideas - a copy of the file would be appreciated.

I have looked at 3 computers running Win98, and none of them have this file. I strongly suspect it may have something to do with your video card. You may try going to your video card manufacturers site and look there.
