    Hello

Well I have done it again. I am running Win 2000 pro. I think I may have changed a setting that affects how my photo Icons are displayed and I cannot figure out how to get back to the way it was. I had been using Imaging as my default viewer which would show a thumbnail of the photo in the thumbnail view setting. Now when I open a folder with the photos in it the only thing that shows is the Imaging icon in a box with the text below. I have looked everywhere to see if I may have changed something but to no avail. Can anyone give me directions?

    Thanks

"... I had been using Imaging as my default viewer ... "

Sorry but which imaging viewer? And you say you "had been" which implies you aren't any longer.

Have you checked file associations for a couple of image types (jpg and gif for instance) to see if they have somehow become associated with another app?

    Hi Newt,
Imaging is the name of the application.
I am referring to the program in accessories called Imaging For Windows by Kodak. There are two versions of this aplication, Imaging and Imaging Preview if that is what you are refering to. Imaging is the viewer I use most of the time because it opens quickly. If I want to work on a photo or image I open the file in Photo Shop. Sorry about the confusion on the " had been " statement. I can still open the image files in Imaging by clicking on the icon as always. I guess what I ment to say is that the file is now showing the Imaging (app name) icon and not the actual thumbnail of the image itself when I switch to thumbnails in view. The problem with this is if , you are searching for a particular photo, you have to open each file if you don't remember what the name of the file was. So pictures numbered 1 through infinity makes it tough to find what you are looking for. Yes I can open any file in any viewer or aplication. Most of the files are jpg and still open correctly. Just no thumbnail image image.

I am certain I changed some setting, I just can't figure out what it could be.

    Mark,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I did as you said and I am back to normal. Great!

If you don't mind replying to one more question. I use NS 7.0 as my browser and not IE. What could I have done to require an IE fix??? At least I have the fix if it happens again.

I gotta stop fooling around with my computer when I get bored.

    Thaks again.

There is this hidden file named Folder.Htt that creates the View as Webpage and the Thumbnail View. If you were to Open With Notepad, you will notice it says "This file was automatically generated by Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 ". Yeah, I know it doesn't match the version number of IE, but it wasn't intregrated with your registry correctly. IE is a part of your system, whether we like it or not.

Thanks for the education. Hope I can return the favor to some one else some day. Over and out.
