    [Inactive] Lost system restores

    Broni,

You resolved the virus problems I was having with my wife's NancXP system:
My system, ChuckXP, showed signs of having a virus so I tried to repeat the detailed instructions you had provided then and have saved all the logs except GMER log which I could not get to run ... even in SAFE mode. None of the logs indicated any virus or malware except for the Kaspersky which I ran last. Your instructions said to run Kaspersky online ... but the online version would not run since I had it installed. Hence I did a complete scan with the installed version.

This time Kaspersky found a system restore infection and I let it be quarantined. Since this did not improve my system's performance, I decided to restore to some previous date. When I went to do a system restore, there were no system restores prior to that day.

When I went to restore from an Acronis backup, I found that it had stopped backing up the Boot Drive(C) in August and had not alerted me.

Looks like I'll have to re-install the OS ... if so, plan to simply install Win 2007.

    Any comments?

Well, it'll be up to you.
We can check your existing installation, or you want to reinstall Windows.
Let me know, what you want to do.

Thanks, Broni, but I think I'll clean house and go with Win 7.
